Sport brings people together, whether it be in a school playground or a mammoth event such as the Olympic Games. Sport also crosses all political and social boundaries and embraces competition, and sport has given us some of the most memorable occasions in history.Who can ever forget the 1936 Olympics in pre-war Berlin, Jesse Owens defied all obstacles and put Nazi Germany firmly in its place when he won four gold medals. In this blog we look at the top sporting events that exist in the world today.

The Le Mans Race

Le Mans offers twenty-four hours of top class motor car racing, that bring out the skill, speed and most of all endurance from machine and driver. Unlike many motor sport events the track for Le Mans is not a permanent one at the Circuit de la Sarthe. Around 45 cars start the race that offers certain classes for competition, these include racing cars, street cars and high-performance vehicles. It is this diversity that brings La Mans such recognition, there is nothing quite like this endurance race. Each team has one car and three drivers, and the winning team is the one that covers the most track in a twenty-four-hour period. First established back in 1923, it has been held every June since WWII and draws massive crowds from all over the racing fraternity.

Many Olympic committees have been charged with cases of bribery as the money that is at stake is immense. But it is the fairy-tale aspect of the Olympic Games that make them so endearing, athletes from the poorest nations in the world can compete at the highest levels against the world’s powerhouses.
